well first i shall clarify the doubt . yes Victor and Mitul are the same people . Actually i generally use this name Victor as a cover as i don't find people with whom i can interact normally feeling good.

Few days back i heard a concert of Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma and Zakir Hussain here in London and i felt that The western people are taking all our good things and we are taking all their bad ones.
"sakhi bhabona khare kohe...sakhi jatana kahare bole.....tomra ki balo dibaso rajani..bhalobasa bhalobasa....." this song really is a star from the sky and looks great like it is but sometimes i do feel may be there are some creative people some good people may be who can produce something out of it.

It was bit hectic for a few days but hopefully things will become normal now.
Did catch up with quite a few good Hollywood movies offlate.
Saw BiCentenial man by Robin William also saw TrueMan show by Jim Carrey amazing how these people come with plots like that.

its really nice to see u again...i too was dam busy...cant catch up with u ppl....well no comments on ur said movies....movies i like....but not too much...specially when its abt english ..as i hv to depend on my TV screen...and its not possible always when u r living with urv family...i hope u understand what i wanna say...but i really appriciate those directors...we hv some dir here ..like sekhar kapoor..aparna sen..rituporno....kalpna lazmi..some frm bolywood..they r really good in making some movies....

To add my two pence in your discussion, just saw Subho Maharat of Rituporno Ghosh when it was screened here in Fremont, USA. It was a disappointment. The plot was copied from Agatha Christie, and just added some masala to it. Liked Mr. And Mrs Iyer much more.

Well true Like i saw My best Friends wedding whose Hindi remake is "Mera Yaar Ki Saadi" and there is a huge huge difference between the 2.
Bollywood still survives as it tries to copy Hollywood though however horrible it may be but for Tollywood it is in horrible state of confusion.

Thanks for welcoming me.
You guys have done a pretty great job and have started a neat healthy discussion. I just felt compelled to comment, just as another fellow Bengali, not as an administrator.
Any way, I really do not see why Tollywood movies have to copy plots from other movies or foreign thrillers…there is no dearth of excellent plots in Bengali literature alone. However, things are looking up nowadays, it seems, with new generation directors make some impact. (Aparna Sen and Mr. And Mrs Iyer, for example)

well yes but if you still see the common theme of Hollywood movies you will be amazed.
Saw As Good As It Gets Jack Nicholson and just felt why can't we have movies like this.
Did any of you guys see the TrueMan Show of Jim Carey amazing concept they have it is just too much..
I really would be very happy seeing Tollywood movies rise to these levels..

my personal opinion on this removal of copyright is, its a correct decision.....there is no harm on this....specially, when u see tht, Tagore has already become a monopoly business of Biswa-Bharati......earlier, u wud v seen there were nothing like a full collection on Tagore's work....all u wud v got is separate books by him...like, 'Sanchayita','Balaka' etc.....then, after a long period of time, they v published the full volume of his work(as per i remember, there were 15 volumes).....and, there were also not enough copies of tht.....i remember, my uncle has got the information of this publication and somehow he has registered to get those volumes(somehow, coz, he was a student then, didnt v enough money).....then, he has to track the time of publication of each volume....he has to go there personally on the fixed date to get the copy.....there were rush, as u might not get it....it can be out of stock.....
so, there was a problem for general ppl to taste Tagore's creation just because of its non-availability.
now-a-days, u dont v tht problem....anytime, u can collect any of the copy u want from anywhere....and, more of all, now, u can get the e-version of Tagore's full collection.....most of this generation are familiar with computer, email, internet....so, getting a few CD on the creation of bengalee's most favourite author of everytime should help them to grow their interest on this man and his work....
now, here comes the abusing part....i remember, i v read in a newspaper, tht, after this removal of copyright will produce collections like "Rabindranath er Bhuter Golpo" and tht ll b sold on the footpath.....but, till now, i havnt found such incidents.....and, obviously, to get sth, u v to pay for it....isnt it??....
now, to come to point of Tagore's song.....ya, those r really so good, so enchanting....
for us, the bengalees, it is sth like holy songs, tht we use for prayers......i, myself, can feel the songs by listening to it....i feel tht, it is written for me only, to describe my situation(doesnt matter whether i m in a pensive mood or in a romantic mood)....i can relate myself with the songs....
but, do u know, tht, Tagore hasnt created the music for all of his songs?....as much he has written, are not been sung by anyone....tht is not popular or without music.....for a few, he has created the music....for the rest, the responsible ppl are those who has been appointed by Biswa-Bharati....and, i wont say tht all the songs r tht up to the mark....somewhere those are monotonous, stale....somewhere, u cud v made it better....u can say the same thing for the style of singing also....its like,predefined....defined by Biswa-Bharati...who all will be eligible to sing his songs and will they sing those, its all used to be controlled by them....thts why u can can get Kishore Kumar's cassette on Tagore's song....but, Pijush Kanti Sarkar's a single work hasnt been released when he was alive....coz, he has tried to do the things differently...and he had to pay for tht....
now, who r these Biswa-Bharati guyz??....an autonomous authority who cannot protect India's first ever Nobel Prize.....wht else, u can say???.....
and, now a dayz, if u can see also tht Tagore's songs v been modified, there is nothing to worry....ppl r not fool....if it is really good to ears, they ll accept it, otherwise not....so simple...and, if anyone wants to use his music in their songs, then also they r most welcome.....it ll produce some really good songs with good music....may be everlasting.....and, this is not gonna happen for the first time.....remember, "Chhu Kar Merey Mann Ko"????......
